Customer complaint Automotive BL


In October 2007, we created an 8D team, Jan was the lead technical consultant, to solve an assembly related defect happening in one of our automotive products. Jan supported the business line solving the defect using his deep insight in the assembly process and machine mechanics.

Jan was leading the process Design of Experiments and modification to machine mechanics at our production facility in Asia and reporting the progress to the business line. Jan educated junior engineers as well as non-technical people by explaining the mechanical issue in simple words and drawings. His directions were instrumental to achieve a more than 90% reduction in line quality loss and complete zero defect with respect to the customer complaint. As a results we were able to regain trust at the customer and have improved on customer satisfaction rating.

After almost 3 years we still have a stable running production and did not encounter any re-occurrence of the assembly defect in our product
